More sketches. More of a brief process here. This is an illustration from a few months ago, of Marguerite Duras writing her famous novella ‘Moderato Cantabile’. In order to illustrate both her and the novel I’ve used a sort of montage with what I felt were key themes from the story. 
So at the top is a final drawing of Marguerite, made after numerous sketches from photos found on the internet, like the one below.I then built around this pencil drawing in photoshop, building shapes and tones, working out the composition. It’s a bit like building an object from lego. I have all my elements noted down, or sketched out, and then I stick them together in a way that’s pleasing to me.  
Then comes the final piece, traced in Illustrator and then I play with colours and textures in photoshop.
